Remote Control Button Batteries Hazard Warning
A recent report from Digital Life On Today from the USA suggests that since 1985, there have been 3,500 injuries caused by swallowed button batteries of the kind that one finds in handset remote control devices for everyday items like TVs, Hi-Fi and other home automation systems. It also states that there have been 9 deaths caused by the tiny power cells.
Button batteries can begin to release dangerous chemicals that can burn within a couple of hours of ingestion, and for children who swallow the batteries and get them stuck in their throat, the burning can causue severe damage.

It is essential to take heed of all manufacturers’ instructions when using remote control handsets or operating devices powered by button batteries and to dispose of used batteries carefully and away from the reach of children and pets.
